ABOUT US
Cold Spring Tutor (“CST”) is a non-profit organization offering a meticulously designed SAT prep curriculum to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. CST tutors students who attend the "lowest performing schools" in Buffalo, NY, every skill required to answer (correctly) the concepts tested on the exam.
CST is focused not only on guiding its students to achieve high scores on the SAT exam but also on how to excel in classes during college.
CST draws extraordinary opportunities to the lives of students directly impacted by systemic racism, poverty, and specifically the May 14, 2022 mass shooting at Tops.
MISSION
To have each student score well on the SAT so that attending college is a viable option - and to introduce various forms of mindfulness training so that students are able to nurture a true understanding of themselves and discover their exceptional capacity. CST will further its mission by quantifiably delivering on these principles. By 2033, 100 million + students, impacted by systemic racism and poverty, will have successfully learned from the CST curriculum how to take control over their future and live healthy, abundant lives.
A MODERN SAT PROGRAM
Every Cold Spring Tutor lesson begins with a twenty-minute mindfulness training session. Each of these training sessions teaches a personal development skill meant to foster an essential mindset for answering that section of the SAT.
Following the mindfulness training session are three forty-minute lessons. The first is focused on test taking strategy. The second is focused on substantive learning. The third is focused on drills to fully integrate and review the test taking strategies and substantive learning sections taught previously.
